Our Safe Neighborhood Campaign was started in 2007 by community members as a response to a number of devastating incidents of violence in Central Brooklyn. By working with local businesses, organizations, and community institutions we began creating strategies to intervene and prevent violence in our communities. Since then the campaign has grown to train 10 businesses, organizations, and community institutions in preventing and intervening in violence. As always, this year's Summit will focus on individual and community safety systems for LGBTSTGNC people of color without relying on the police. Instead we will promote creative community-based alternatives to violence.
