Calling all performing and visual artists!
The Safe OUTside the system Collective is looking for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans, and Gender Non Conforming (LGBTSTGNC) people of color [preferably by folks living or working in Bed Stuy] visual artists/performing artists to show their work on April 16th at the Safe Neighborhood Summit this year. The work should directly speak to the violence LGBTSTGNC PoC folks face, our survival, and our own self determined resilience.
This would be volunteer work, but folks will have the opportunity to reach a large [150 people] group of people, mostly working class LGBTSTGNC and straight people of color. We can compensate for travel [in NYC only] and you would be able to sell merch/art.
-Visual artists-15 pieces max, limited hanging space
-Performing artists- 10 min set max, limited AV equipt, limited props, no nudity [its a family event with lil ones]
Please forward this to your folks, and let me know if you know of anyone else I should hit up.
Please contact cjohnsonlong@alp.org NO LATER THAN MONDAY, APRIL 4TH with a bio, artist statement, and sample work.
Please Contact us for questions
Thanks!
