Food Giveaway Coming To Stuyvesant Gardens This Week

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A food giveaway will be coming to the Stuyvesant Gardens houses this week just in time for the holidays.

Council Member Robert Cornegy Jr. has moved his "Wellness Wednesdays" giveaway to the Stuyvesant I and II buildings on Malcolm X Boulevard. The event brings food and other giveaways to different spots in Cornegy's district each week.

"Everyone in our community deserves to eat well," Cornegy wrote. "Please spread the word."

This week's food distribution will begin at 11 a.m. at 150 Malcolm X Blvd. and last as long as supplies lasts.

The giveaway is the first in two weeks since last week's Wellness Wednesday, scheduled for the Utica Avenue train station, was canceled given the snow storm.

Next week, Cornegy will move the giveaway to the Albany Houses on Troy Avenue.

The distributions come courtesy of The Campaign Against Hunger and the Met Council.
