Man Shot In Chest Crashes Car Outside Bed-Stuy School, Police Say

The injured man crashed into a parked car outside the MacDonough Street school on Tuesday evening around 7 p.m., police said.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A man was shot in the chest while driving, tried to escape his attacker and crashed in front of a Bed-Stuy school Tuesday night, according to police.

The 36-year-old man was driving down MacDonough Street near Malcolm X Boulevard around 7 p.m. when an unidentified shooter fired several bullets into his chest and hand, police said.

The driver sped off down MacDonough Street in an attempt to flee, but only made it two blocks before crashing his silver sedan, said police.

The injured man swerved near MacDonough Street and Lewis Avenue and rammed into a parked car outside the Brooklyn Brownstone School at 272 MacDonough Ave., said police.

Emergency responders rushed the man to King County Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, said police.

Police had not made any arrests as of Wednesday morning but the investigation remains ongoing.
