Man Shot Dead Outside Grandmother's Bed-Stuy Home: Police And Report

A young man was shot dead on Chauncey Street near Malcolm X Boulevard Wednesday night around 10 p.m., police said.

BEDFORD STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A young man was shot dead in front of his grandmother’s home in Bed-Stuy Wednesday night, according to police and reports.

Shaquill Banks, 23, had just stepped out of his grandmother’s apartment building on Chauncey Street near Malcolm X Boulevard around 10 p.m. when he was shot three times in the chest, according to police and the New York Daily News.

Emergency responders rushed the young man to Kings County Hospital where he died from his injuries, said police.

Banks’ grandmother Mary Banks, 61, told the Daily News that she had begged her grandson not to go outside because “I knew he had some beef out there," she said.

Banks added that her grandson was the father to a 5-year-old daughter named Harmony, the Daily News reported.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning, police said.
