New 'Affordable' Bed-Stuy Apartments Require $77K Salary

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — New apartments on Bedford and Jefferson avenues have hit the affordable housing lottery, but only for those making at least $77,000 or $67,000 a year.

On Bedford Avenue the new units include four one-bedroom spots and four two-bedroom spots in a new building at 1044 Bedford Ave. The building includes a gym, elevator, dishwasher, video intercom, bike room, stainless steel appliances, card-based laundry, according to the listing.

The Jefferson Avenue spots, all two-bedrooms, are found at 804 Jefferson Ave. and include a bike room and laundry, for a fee.

Both buildings were added to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development lottery last week and will be open for applications until late July.

In the Bedford Avenue building, applicants should make at least $76,972 per year to apply.

The one-bedroom spots will cost $2,245 a month and the two-bedroom apartments will go for $2,600 per month.

The Jefferson Avenue spots cost $2,350 per month and will go to those making at least $67,143 per year.

The maximum salary limit will depend on how many people are applying to live in the apartment.
