One Dead, Firefighter Injured In Bed-Stuy Apartment Fire
Firefighters found a man, 52, dead inside a Jefferson Avenue apartment next door to the late Wednesday fire, authorities said.
BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A man died and a firefighter was injured in an Bed-Stuy apartment fire, authorities said.
Firefighters found the body of a 52-year-old man inside a Jefferson Avenue apartment on Wednesday. The blaze tore through a neighboring apartment in the three-story building, authorities said.
A 911 call at 7:14 p.m. brought FDNY to the apartment building on Jefferson Avenue near Ralph Avenue, authorities said. The fire centered on a second-floor apartment, according to police.

A firefighter sliced an artery while breaking through a window, the New York Daily News reported. Crews managed to get the blaze under control at 7:36 p.m., according to FDNY.
The man's body was found after crews extinguished the fire. Besides the firefighter, another resident was injured in the fire.

The firefighter is in stable condition at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, FDNY said. The other injured person is at Weill Cornell Medical Center, also in stable condition, authorities said.
A medical examiner will determine the man's cause of death.
