Pepper Spray Fight In Brooklyn School Sends 27 To Hospitals, FDNY And Report Say

The fight occurred at PS 157, the Benjamin Franklin Health Science Academy, officials said.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — Twenty-seven people were rushed from a Brooklyn public school to nearby hospitals after breathing some kind of irritant, according to the FDNY.

The incident occurred at PS 157 — or the Benjamin Franklin Health Science Academy — at 850 Kent Ave. around 8:10 a.m. Monday, said FDNY.

Emergency responders transported the hurt, all with minor injuries related to inhaling an irritant, said FDNY.

The Daily News reported that two teenaged girls used pepper spray on their classmates during a fight with two other teenagers in the school cafeteria.

The two girls, aged 12 and 13, will be prosecuted as juveniles on charges of assault, menacing and possession of a weapon on school grounds, the Daily News reported.
