Police Discover Alligator, 9 Snakes and Some Pot in Brooklyn Apartment

On the border of Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights.

The NYPD served a search warrant to Bed-Stuy resident Johnnie Morgan, 44, on Tuesday morning, on suspicion that he may be hoarding illegal pets in his apartment.

And upon entering Morgan’s apartment, police say they found what they were looking for.

Five pythons, four boa constrictors and an alligator were all living with Morgan at 1845 Atlantic Avenue, according to police. (”No, I do not know the type of the alligator,” says a police spokeswoman.)

The animals were confiscated, police say, and Morgan was charged with 10 counts — including “reckless endangerment, violation of local law and unlawful possession of marijuana.”

His reptiles are now recovering at the Bronx Zoo.
