Late Thursday, the Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to overturn the injunction preventing it from instituting its limitation on immigration from six predominantly Muslim countries. The administration says a lower court should not have considered Trump's campaign statements. (Patch)

When it comes to climate change, anyway. The president announced he is withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate accords. The only other countries not a part of it are Syria and Nicaragua. But Nicaragua's different because it thinks the accords should have gone further. Meanwhile, Trump said he's president of Pittsburgh not Paris. Pittsburgh was not grateful. (Patch)


Meanwhile, Michigan GOP Representative Says God's Got This

Rep. Tim Walberg says he doubts there is climate change but says if there is, it's part of God's plan. And he has faith that whatever God has planned will work out the way God wants. (Patch)



He Died Protecting Two Teens, Then Someone Stole His Wedding Ring

Rick John Best was on his way home from work when he stood up to protect two teen girls who were the target of a racist attack. He was killed. Then someone stole his wedding ring and backpack. (Patch)


Ohio Sues Five Opioid Drug Makers

The attorney general's suit accuses the companies of fraudulent marketing, contributing to the state's opioid crisis. (Patch)


Second Noose Found In D.C. In Days

For the second time in a few days, a noose has been found in Washington, D.C. The first time was in an art museum and this time in the National Museum of African American History and Culture. (Patch)


They Know Which Way The Wind Blows

The annual hurricane season got underway on Thursday and, just in time, researchers at Colorado State University, who track these things, have upped their prediction for the season. They now say there could be 14 named storms, six of which one could be a full-on major hurricane. (Patch)

Who Doesn't Love A Good Prank?

It appears that Sussex, Wisconsin, has a sense of humor. The town has a water tower with the town name. They hired a company to give it a new paint job. Turns out it was a two-day job. First day ended with just "SEX" on the water tower. Turns out they did the same thing when they last painted the tower 20 years ago. (Patch)

Eminem Gets Respect — From The Dictionary

And not just any dictionary. The Oxford Dictionary, the dictionary of dictionaries. The keeper of 171,476 words and their histories along with another 47,156 words that have fallen use. It has added "stans," meaning overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity. And it credits Eminem with coining it. For now, anyway, our autocorrect doesn't recognize it as a real word. And So Does Rodney Dangerfield

The comedian famed for not getting any respect is getting his due from Los Angeles Community College. It is creating the Rodney Dangerfield Institute, which it says is the only community college-based comedy institute in the country and will offer classes on topics like stand-up and joke writing. It's circle-of-life stuff here. Couple in Texas stops to video a snake eating a snake. Then the snake regurgitates it. The eaten snake, dazed and confused, is still alive. (Patch)
