A block of Macon Street will be closed every Wednesday in October for a line-up of free family activities, according to the library.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN —The street in front of Macon Library will transform into an activity hub for local families each week in October, the library has announced.
Macon Street between Lewis and Stuyvesant avenues will close down every Wednesday in October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of a new "Macon Library Outdoors" program, organized by the Brooklyn Public Library.
The street will fill instead with family activities, including story-times, arts and crafts, mindfulness events and more.

Macon Library is one of about two dozen Brooklyn Public Libraries that have reopened from a coronavirus-prompted closure for lobby service in recent months.
Each of the lobby service libraries are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday to pick up holds or return books.
The libraries have added extra precautions — including quarantining returned books for 96 hours — to help open safely. A full list of open libraries can be found here.
