Uber Driver Sent To Hospital After Crash-Turned-Robbery In BK: PD

The driver was dropping someone off when another car crashed into his and three people ended up assaulting and robbing him, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — Police are asking the public's help to find three people who attacked and robbed Uber driver after a crash near the Bed-Stuy border.

The three suspects — a 35-year-old and two teenagers — robbed and assaulted the driver around 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 1 while he was dropping off a passenger near Central and Putnam avenues, police said.

The attack unfolded after the 35-year-old crashed into the Uber driver's car as it was parked at the intersection, police said. The two drivers got into a verbal dispute, which escalated into the 35-year-old driver hitting and shattering the Uber's headlights and windshield, police said.

Soon, the teenage boy and teenage girl, who police said were "acting in concert" with the 35-year-old, joined in. The teenage boy and the 35-year-old punched the Uber driver while the girl took a gold chain, worth $900, from his car, police said.

The teenage boy and the man then went through the Uber driver's pockets and took $500 before all three suspects fled, police said.

The Uber driver was sent to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition, according to police.
