Subway Rider Throws On-Board Birthday Bash With Lobster

Amber Asaly posted photos of her five-star subway birthday dinner, which included streamers and a piñata, on Instagram Wednesday night.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN -- It was a B-Day on the J Train.

A small group of friends boarded the J Train Wednesday night to celebrate a birthday with bubbly and a lobster dinner, Instagram photos show.

"Reservations fell thru," explained Amber Asaly, the L.A.-based photographer who celebrated her 26th birthday with a five-star subway feast. "Family came thru."

Asaly and her friends set up a table (with a white table cloth, of course), streamers and piñata on the train which they caught at the Myrtle-Broadway station at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the New York Post first reported.

The revelers rode the train to the end of the line and back, all while enjoying spaghetti, the piñata and even a tiered birthday cake, Asaly told the Post.

"We made it like a Michelin-starred restaurant," said Asaly. “It was crazy.”

Asaly told the Post her fellow straphangers politely ignored the festivities, but Instagram commenters offered their opinions readily.

"the fact that you did it completely ny style with w everyone else on the subway makes this sm better," wrote illegalslut.

"I love how New Yorkers aren't even phased by this," one commenter wrote. "We see some crazy things on the train."

Instagram user heyrald added, "I hope there was pasta in that piñata."

Asaly's Instagram post has since gone viral with dozens of people expressed a desire to celebrate their birthdays in similar fashion.

The MTA did not immediately respond to Patch's question of whether or not the agency was concerned by this possible new trend.
