Bedford Announces New Film, TV, Video, Photo Shoot Policy
The town simplified the permitting process and established a single access point for production companies, location scouts and directors.

BEDFORD, NY — Bedford has implemented a new policy to encourage film and media production throughout the community. Following an extensive review by a newly-formed expert Bedford Film Committee, the town has reduced its fees, simplified the permitting process and established a single access point for production companies, location scouts and directors. “Bedford has always been a popular location for film and photo shoots,” says Bedford Town Supervisor Chris Burdick.
“Now, in response to industry demand, we’re making it easier for creative companies and individuals to work here. We want to be thought of as ‘BFF,’ ” he said. “Bedford’s Film Friendly.”

The Town of Bedford consists of the hamlets of Bedford, Bedford Hills and Katonah located across its 40-square-mile area. The area’s visual amenities include farms, fields, woodlands, lakes and other natural attractions, along with estate areas and a variety of residential neighborhoods with varying architectural styles, quaint downtowns and historical locations and structures dating back to the Revolutionary War. In addition, the area offers a variety of restaurants, lodging, retail, catering, contractors, telecom/power infrastructure and other services required to support on-site productions.
Features filmed in Bedford include "Fatal Attraction," "Valley of the Dolls, Ragtime," "The Stepford Wives," "In the Gloaming" and others. Major TV productions have included "Girls," "Billions" and "The Path." Numerous magazine photo shoots for such major publications as Real Simple, Elle Décor, Parents and Architectural Digest routinely take place around the town, as well as advertisers and catalog shoots from every category.

“We’ve worked closely with many media companies over the years and we’re looking forward to welcoming new production partners,” Burdick said.
