Bedford GOP Chooses Candidate for Town Board Vacancy
The seat has been open since Francis Corcoran resigned to become a county legislator.

The Republican candidate for a vacancy on the Bedford town board was selected by the Bedford Republican Committee.
Tom Kennedy, vice chairman and interim acting chairman of the committee, said Luke Vander Linden, the chairman of the committee, was chosen to run for the seat vacated by Francis Corcoran.
The election will be March 15.

Kennedy said there were six candidates—four Republicans and two independents—interested in the position.
Vander Linden is a trustee for both the Bedford Hills Free Library and the Westchester County Library System. He is also an appointed member of the town’s Recreation and Parks Advisory Board and the Communications Advisory Committee.

Vander Linden is first vice president of the Bedford Hills Lions Club.
Kennedy said that, since two of the current board members live in Katonah and the other in Bedford Village, it was important for Bedford Hills, which is where Vander Linden lives, to have representation on the board.
“So it was clear at our meeting that Luke was the best choice to fill the big shoes left by Francis Corcoran’s move to the county Board of Legislators,” Kennedy said. “Just like Francis, he will lead the town responsibly and compassionately.”
