Bedford Lawyer Guilty In DWI Crash That Killed Mount Kisco Man
The criminal defense attorney entered a guilty plea in connection with the collision that killed a 22-year-old following a holiday party.
BEDFORD, NY — A Bedford lawyer has entered a guilty plea in connection to a drunken driving crash that killed a 22-year-old Mount Kisco man following a holiday party in December 2019.
Robert Schuster pled guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide on Tuesday. He now faces a sentence ranging from a minimum of one to three years to a maximum of 8 to 25 years in prison.
After leaving a holiday party on December 16, 2019, Schuster was driving eastbound on Route 172 near Darlington Road in Bedford when his 2018 BMW 750 crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into the car driven by Diego Trejo.

Trejo died at the scene. Schuster, who was injured in the crash, was treated at a local hospital.
Investigators from the Bedford Police Department and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety determined that Schuster had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit at the time of the collision.

“Robert Schuster’s decision to drive his car while drunk displayed a blatant disregard for human life and safety that ultimately led to the tragic death of an innocent young man,” Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah said. “Drunk drivers put their own lives and those of everyone in our community at risk, and our Office will continue to aggressively prosecute these cases to help ensure the safety of our streets.”
In April 2020, Schuster was indicted by a grand jury on two felony counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
Schuster is scheduled to be sentenced on November 30.
