My name is Bonnie Schwartz, and I am running for Town Council of Pound Ridge. Simply put “Pound Ridge is my passion.” I could not imagine a better place to live and raise a family. Being a mother with three children, Matt 20, Carly 18, and Kerry 15, all of whom have gone through or are currently in the Bedford Central School District, there is no better place to set down roots. My husband Michael and I have lived with our family for 20 years in a town that will forever be our home.
Having left a career in retail to raise a family, I have dedicated my life by being an active member of the Pound Ridge community. I have served as past vice-president of the Pound Ridge Elementary School PTA and co-president of the Fox Lane Middle School FLMSA. These positions enabled me to become involved in various committees such as the Pound Ridge Elementary School Auction, the Reading Committee where various authors came to speak, the Playground Committee where funds were privately raised for new equipment, the Beautification Committee and Family U Night, an evening of workshops and speakers for parents and their children themed around important social and family matters. I am a former co-chair of the Pound Ridge Newcomer’s Club, past brownie and Girl Scout leader and past volunteer for the Pound Ridge Boy Scouts. I am a former coach in the Katonah/Bedford softball program, and the boys and girls soccer and basketball programs through the Pound Ridge Recreation department. I am a current volunteer and active member of the Pound Ridge Lions Club, Pound Ridge swim team, Pound Ridge Office of Emergency Management and assist in running the Pound Ridge 4th of July 5K road race since it’s conception. This volunteerism and involvement has made me understand the past, present and future of our town and the challenges, we as a community, face going forward.
My goals, if I was to get an opportunity to serve on the town board of Pound Ridge, would be to continue fiscal responsibility within our limited budget. I would continue to work on improving the infrastructure, mainly the waste water problems that plague our business district and the surrounding area. I would continue keeping and preserving the integrity of Pound Ridge and continue to promote volunteerism on all levels starting with our Ambulance and Fire Department, Office Of Emergency Management, Neighbor to Neighbor, Town Government with the various commissions and boards, and the Recreation Department with its various programs.

By being such an involved citizen in our community over the years, I gained a deeper appreciation for what Pound Ridge has to offer and what it can offer. My desire is simple “to serve the community that has served me so well”, so please vote for me November 5th so I can continue to “serve” the community.
