14th Annual Sierra Club Earth Day Nature Hike to Gertrude's Nose in Minnewaska State Park

14th Annual Earth Day Nature Hike along the front Shawangunk escarpment 2,000' over the Walkill Valley farms on a very special hiking trail with spectacular views and sensitive ecology, considered one of the "last great places on earth."   PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS ON THE EXPOSED RIDGE.  TO BE NOTIFIED OF RESCHEDULED DATE, JOIN THE SIERRA CLUB ATLANTIC CHAPTER OUTINGS COMMITTEE MeetUp Group.  This is a moderate to strenuous hike of 9 miles, with 2 long uphills and a ridge walk, from Lake Minnewaska to the summit of Millbrook Mountain, along the front escarpment to Gertrude's Nose, along the rim of the scenic Palmaghatt  Ravine and back to our cars via scenic, century-old carriage roads.  See ecological remnants of the last ice age and endangered species found nowhere else in NY.  TO REGISTER or for further information, visit the Sierra Club outings site at http://www.meetup.com/sierraclubny/
