LBA OPENING DAY IS SAT APRIL 30

Little League Opening Day in Lewisboro will be Saturday April 30, with the official beginning of the Lewisboro Baseball Association's in-town spring league including Opening Day ceremonies at Town Park (the rain date will be Sunday).

Once again, the community is invited to a barbecue picnic served by the Lewisboro Lion’s Club and to watch the ceremonies which will include the traditional Parade of Teams, and to stay to enjoy a AAA game.

The barbecue begins at 11:30 AM, with the ceremonies getting underway at 1:15 PM.  LBA merchandise will be on sale with proceeds going towards the League’s on-going field improvement programs, and there will be a drawing for this year's LBA raffle.

The Aquafina® Pitch Hit and Run Competition will be run from 10 AM to 12 noon by members of the John Jay High School Varsity.  This event is open to ages 7-14 and gives participants an opportunity to advance to the National Finals at Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in Phoenix.

The theme for this year's Opening Day is community service, with the "Lewisboro Lion" throwing out the first pitch. The LBA will award its first "Spirit of the LBA Award" to Chris Andrews, a dedicated coach and volunteer, for his commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and community spirit which guide the LBA’s board members, action officers and other volunteers in the work they do each year to run a program that will field over 30 teams and serve over 400 children this spring.

The league will also honor the memory of Bryan Conway whose infectious optimism and willingness to persevere against all odds continues to be an inspiration to all who knew him young and old.  His LBA jersey, number 1, is being retired.

LBA president, Greg LaSorsa, noted that he was " really looking forward to opening day this year. With all the special things we have planned it is going to be one of our more memorable ones.”
