New York City-based pop-soul-rock group The Score will be making its Westchester County debut at the historic Winery at St. George in Mohegan Lake on August 17th. Founded by Katonah native Edan Dover and Iona College student Eddie Anthony, this show marks an exciting time in their budding careers as performers and songwriters.
Edan began his musical career as an up-and-coming jazz pianist in Katonah, Westchester. His first band, Sweatshop, was a jazz-funk group he created with fellow classmates at John Jay High School. Edan continued the band while studying jazz performance at NYU, but took a break his sophomore year to study music abroad in Israel. There, he teamed up with local Israeli musicians and international students to perform on stages across the country, eventually landing performances on Israeli television and radio. His junior year, Edan returned to NYU as a music business major with a newfound interest in songwriting and record production. Through an introduction by a friend at Universal Motown Records, Edan met fellow co-writer and The Score's to-be frontman, Eddie Anthony, who hails from Orange County, CA and studied at Iona College in Westchester. The duo clicked immediately and began writing and recording numerous pop demos to pitch to artists. One of the songs succeeded to be picked up by Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham on record label A&M/Octone (Maroon 5, Kna'an). The electro-pop love ballad, "Wanna Say," co-written and co-produced by Edan and Eddie, was released on her debut EP Against The Wall in May 2012 and is set to be promoted to radio as her second single.
Meanwhile, Eddie and Edan discovered that many of their other songs had a soul-infused rock/Motown feel, unique from their other electro pop demos. Edan contacted his old NYU friends and assembled a new band of top-notch jazz musicians to play these songs, whom became the foundation of The Score.
Also a graphic designer and web developer at EMI Music Publishing, Edan applied his design and tech skills to build The Score's website and a lyric video for Edan and Eddie's soulful, folky pop song "Dancing Shoes". Released last month, "Dancing Shoes" has since received praise from blogs and music industry executives alike, called “as close to pop perfection as it gets” by music review blog ithinkiloveit.com and led Edan and Eddie to be sought out by executives at EMI and Warner music.
The Score's performance at the Winery at St. George marks an exciting point in Edan's budding career as a writer, producer and musician. It will be The Score's third live performance as a full band.
