Extreme Winds, Rain Cause Travel Problems in Lower Hudson Valley

Debris is being cleared from roads where trees went down.

Wednesday night’s wild weather continue to cause problems getting around throughout the lower Hudson Valley.

A tree fell onto the middle of Metro-North tracks around 9 p.m. just before the Irvington Train Station on the Hudson Line and a train hit it, according to FIOS1News.com.

The train was able to pull into the station, but the FIOS1News video shows branches stuck to the front of it.

Passengers were put on another train. There were no injuries.

WABC-TV said it was the northbound 9:05 p.m. train to Poughkeepsie that hit the fallen tree.

Portions of the Bronx River Parkway were closed overnight, according to lohud.com.

Other trouble spots included Route 118 in Yorktown, because of a downed tree, and Fifth Avenue in New Rochelle, because of downed power lines and a downed tree.

Metro-North is not reporting any delays as of 9:30 a.m. on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines.

The Bee-Line bus system is operating normally, and there are no transit alerts for Transport of Rockland.

At Kennedy International Airport and White Plains County Airport, there are 15 minutes arrival delays, according to faa.gov.
