We thank Kennedy Catholic boys lacrosse coaches Vin and Nick Savastano for the below submission of its March 24 contest. Both are former state finalist coaches and four-time Section 1 champions while coaching at John Jay. We wish them and their players the best this spring:

Background

This is the third year for the Savastano's coaching at Kennedy Catholic.

First year Gaels lost to Pearl River 10-1.  

Second year beat the Pirates 4-3.

Coach's comments:

"It was a great game. We came out to a quick 2-0 lead, before exploding in the second quarter with a 6-1 lead and led 7-2 at half. We then took a commanding 12-2 lead before winning 12-4."

"It was a great team effort and we were excited to get Kennedy Catholic's first win the new turf field. The kids did an amazing job excecuting the game plan and we are excited about our potential this season."

Squirts Cap a Great Season with a Win!

The below was taken from the Bedford Bears Hockey website. We congratulate the team on its great season:

The Squirt A's capped a great season with a win over North Park to capture the Hackensack Spring Screamer Tournament. Down 2-0 in the early going, the Bears came on strong to win 4-3.

For the season, the Squirts record was 29-9-1, 1st place at both the Marlborough and Hackensack Tournaments, and NY State Championship Semi-Finalist. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and parents. Awesome job!!!

Men's Baseball

Cortland sophomore catcher Tim Panetta (Fox Lane '10) was 2-for-3 with a double in the nationally 22nd-ranked Red Dragons' 10-2 triumph at Mt. St. Vincent on March 18.
