Former School Bus Driver Fondled Child

The middle-school bus driver had planned a second tryst with his pre-teen victim, police said.

A former middle school bus driver accused of sexually abusing a child was sentenced to four years in prison, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Tuesday.

Brayan Moscoso Arias, 23, of Brewster, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse, a felony, in October.

At the time of his arrest, Moscoso Arias was a school bus driver for the Bedford Central School District. He was arrested in May 2018 by Westchester County Police in Mount Kisco after they received information that Arias was going to meet with a victim under 13 years of age for a sexual encounter in a Mount Kisco shoppers’ parking lot.

He had met the victim on one earlier occasion where he fondled the victim. The encounter was inside his vehicle.

Police staked out the parking lot after they notified the victim’s family. Moscoso Arias showed up at the appointed time and was met by police and arrested. The child was not present at the time. The charges were based on an earlier incident and text messages to the victim.

In addition to prison time, he was sentenced to 10 years post-release supervision and will be registered as a sex offender under the Sex Offense Registry Act (SORA).

Assistant District Attorney Christine Hatfield, Deputy Chief of the Special Prosecutions Division Child Abuse/Elder Abuse Bureau, prosecuted the case.
