Harvey School's Hockey Team Preps for Scarsdale Tournament
Harvey has enjoyed some success in the tournament the past four years, winning the championship in 2011.

Harvey’s varsity hockey team will once again battle the big schools in a hockey tournament set for this Saturday and Sunday. The Cavaliers will open the annual Scarsdale Raiders Ice Hockey Tournament Saturday at 4:10 p.m.against Pearl River High School. Tournament host Scarsdale faces off against Clarkstown at 6:10 p.m. Scarsdale, undefeated this year, is ranked as the #1 team in the section and Clarkstown is #3.
For Harvey, it’s the team’s second tournament this season against big schools. Coach Alex Morse likes the idea of having the Cavaliers go up against tough competition. “I welcome the challenge,” said Morse, “and so do our players.” He said, “Playing in tournaments against powerhouse teams allows us to step up for a big challenge.” Coach Morse said it’s not all about winning. “Our kids will see how far they’ve come and we’ll find out where we need to improve to help us get ready for the remainder of the season when we’re fighting for a league championship.”

Coach Morse said he’s excited to see how his first line of forwards will fare this weekend. Senior captain Keith Lambert of Cortlandt Manor is having an extraordinary season, chalking up 61 points on 31 goals and 30 assists. He has collected five hat tricks, including three naturals. His line mates Theo Rattner of Waccabuc and senior captain Connor Wilson are also having solid seasons. Rattner, a junior, has registered 34 points on 12 goals and 24 assists. Wilson has 13 goals and 14 assists. Harvey is also leaning heavily on senior goalie Mark Siegel, a 2014 Fairchester Athletic Association All-League player.

If the Cavaliers beat Pearl River Saturday, they would play in the championship game Sunday evening following the consolation game. All of the games will be played at the E.J. Murray Ice Rink in Yonkers.
