Help the Red Cross during National Preparedness Month--Donate Blood in Northern Westchester
There are opportunities in Cross River, Montrose, North Salem and Yorktown.

It’s National Preparedness Month!
So it’s a good time to listen to the Red Cross.
There are simple steps you can to get ready for emergencies in your homes, workplaces and communities. One way to support this mission is to become a regular blood donor.

That’s because blood can take up to three days to be tested, processed and made available for patients. It’s the blood already on the shelves that can help save lives when disaster strikes.
Appointments to donate and help the Red Cross prepare for patient needs across the country can be made at redcrossblood.org. Information about other ways to help prepare for emergencies is available at redcross.org.

Here are four chances in northern Westchester to do something easy and quick to help:
- North Salem - Sept. 19: 12 p.m. - 6 p.m., North Salem Firehouse, 300 Titicus Road
- Yorktown Heights - Sept. 23: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Margeliz Center, 2051 Baldwin Rd
- Cross River - Sept. 24: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., John Jay High School, 60 North Salem Road
- Montrose - Sept. 30: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Veterans Affairs Hudson Valley Healthcare System Building 15, Route 9A
