Last year’s HVAL Lacrosse Champions are on a roll in the 2012 spring season. The Harvey Cavaliers are now 5-0 after a home field victory Wednesday, 4/18 against Wooster.
Senior midfielder Brandon Hickey gave Harvey the lead at 7:12 of the first quarter. Hickey scored his 100th goal in a Harvey jersey on the day. Senior midfielder Richard Schulman added two to put Harvey up 4-1 at the quarter. In the second quarter, senior Mitch Bowman had a hat-trick, Connor Wilson and Hickey each scored again and senior Brett Marks added a single to give Harvey a 10-2 lead at the half.

Both teams scored two in the third quarter, with Bowman and Marks hitting the twine for Harvey. In the fourth quarter, Wooster scored three times, but sophomore Andrew Schwartz shot one in the net for Harvey’s last goal and a 13-7 final score. Senior Alex Trister made 11 saves in the Harvey net.
Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse Goes to 6-0 in Overtime Victory
Harvey traveled to Greens Farms Academy Saturday, April 21st and faced a tough Division 2 opponent, but the Cavaliers held on for a 6-5 victory, extending its winning streak to six games.
Harvey scored first with Richard Schulman putting in his first of three goals. Both teams scored three goals apiece in the 2nd quarter as Harvey maintained its one-goal lead at the half.
Brett Marks and John Bolanos netted two goals along with Schulman’s second. In the second half, both teams put forth a solid defensive effort and held scoring to one Hickey goal in the third. GFA pushed forward and put up a goal in both quarters and tied the game with 5 minutes to play.
In overtime senior Richard Schulman was able to score the game-winning goal 2:37 into the period with a pass from Brandon Hickey. James Underwood played another stellar game in the net for Harvey, making 10 saves, while Riley Grady of GFA had a great game with 13 saves for GFA.
St. Lukes ends Harvey Lacrosse Winning Streak
The Harvey Cavaliers Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse team suffered their first defeat of the season when they hosted St. Luke’s on Monday. Brandon Hickey opened the scoring for Harvey in the second minute, but Peter Baritz quickly tied it up for the visitors.
Tyler Brennan, Mack Dowling, and Baritz with his second gave St. Like’s a 4-1 lead at the first quarter. Greg Sellhausen had a natural hat-trick in the second quarter, and Tyler Brennan added one for an 8-1 score at the half. Both teams scored three goals in the second half.
Mitch Bowman scored in the third quarter for Harvey, and Brennan had his third for St. Luke’s. Both teams scored 2 goals in the last quarter: Hickey and Richard Schulman for the hosts, and Dowling and Baritz for the visitors. James Underwood made 8 saves in the Harvey goal, while Adam Connolly and Peter Moran combined for 10 saves for the visitors.
Boys’ JV Lacrosse Loses to St. Luke’s
Harvey’s boys’ junior varsity lacrosse team dropped an 11-3 decision to host St. Luke’s on Tuesday, April 17. The score could have been more lopsided, except for the spectacular play of Alex Trister, the Harvey keeper, who made 17 saves in the first half and 9 in the second.
