Hudson Valley Native Ends 'Jeopardy!' Winning Streak

Alex Trebek said only four other champions won more games and more money than Rogers.

POUND RIDGE, NY — He’ll be back, just not on Friday’s edition of “Jeopardy!” Westchester native Austin Rogers was unseated Thursday, Oct. 12 as champion by stay-at-home mom Scarlett Sims on the popular game show.

Rogers entered Final Jeopardy with $16,600, lower than Sims’ $21,200.

Both contestants correctly answered “What is ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’?” to the Movie History category answer.

But Sims wagered enough to best Rogers by $51.

Rogers was raised in Pound Ridge and is currently living in Manhattan and working as a bartender.

He made it through a 12-game winning streak with a total of $411,000.

Alex Trebek said on the program that Rogers will be back for the tournament of champions and that only four “Jeopardy!” champions have won more games and more money than he has.

And the answer for Final Jeopardy? A 1947 FBI study chided this holiday film’s “attempt to discredit bankers … a common trick used by communists.”
