John Jay High School Named 35th Best in New York

The Cross River school was rated highly by U.S. News and World Report.

John Jay High School in Cross River is rated the 35th best in New York, according to the latest ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

The school’s top 35 rating earned a Gold award from the publication, which also noted that the AP participation rate is 78 percent at the school. John Jay’s national rank is 241st, and its STEM rank was not listed.

Total enrollment for the school is 1,189 and there is a 13:1 student-to-teacher ratio.

Based on test scores, 95 percent of students are proficient in English and 98 percent are proficient in mathematics.
