The Katonah-Lewisboro School District is expected to appoint current Chappaqua Central Assistant Superintendent Andrew Selesnick as its new school superintendent, replacing Paul Kreutzer, district officials announced Friday.

Kreutzer resigned abruptly in January, 2014, under what the district said were irreconcilable differences over the direction of the system. The school district hired Executive Search Firm, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates to find Kreutzer’s replacement, which led to Selesnick.

“The Board believes that Andrew will be a strong educational leader for our school system,” said Board of Education President Marjorie Schiff in a statement. “Before we began our search for a new superintendent we asked the community for its views on the characteristics that would make a good superintendent for KLSD and Andrew possesses these qualities. We are confident that our school community will be impressed with him once they get a chance to meet and work with him.”

The board intends to formally make the appointment at its Feb. 13 meeting, and Selesnick would begin on July 1.
