Katonah Swim and Dive Team Shines at County Competition

Katonah Swim and Dive Team finishes in 11th place.

Kerry Kelly finished 5th overall for girls 15-17 years, Zach Boies 6th overall for 13-14 boys and the boys 13 & Under 200 Free Relay grabbed the top spot in representing Katonah Swim and Dive Team at the 89th Westchester County Swimming Association Championships (“Counties”) at Rye Playland from July 28-29-30-31 (Swimming) and at Lake Isle Country Club on July 21and 22 (Diving)

KSDT finished 11th out of 37 teams in the competition, with the boys earning 7th place honors. KSDT was well represented, from seasoned swimmers looking to place to first-timers wanting in on the fun. And fun was certainly had by the 13 & Under Freestyle Relay of Brian Crane, Kevin Crane, Kieran Brown, Zach Boies – beating 19 other teams to take 1st place.

Kelly continued her strong season with a 3rd place finish in the 200-yard IM, 3rd in the 100-yard butterfly, 6th in the 100-yard freestyle, and 7th in the 100-yard backstroke – putting her at 5th place overall.

Boies earned his 6th place overall finish with 5th in the 100-yard freestyle, 3rd in the 200-yard IM, 7th in the 100-yard butterfly and was the anchor in the winning boys 13 & under free relay. Boies also swam in the 17 & under medley relay which took 8th place.

Other individual high scorers included Brian Crane and Kaz Sampson. Crane finished 17th overall in the 13-14 boys category, with 5th in the 200-yard IM, 15th in 100-yard freestyle, 21st in the 100-yard backstroke, 17th in the 100-yard butterfly and also part of the winning boys 13 & under free relay. Sampson, in his first year in the 15-17 year old group, came in 15th. He took 9th in the 200-yard IM, 11th in the 100-yard fly, 5thin the 100-yard breast and anchored both the medley and freestyle relays, each relay taking 8th place.

Representing the younger swimmers, Kieran Brown, Scott Esposito, Cody Siegel, and Michael O’Donnell , finished 11th in the boys 10 & under 200-yard medley relay. Brown was also part of the winning freestyle relay, and took 16th in the boys 10 & under backstroke.

In diving, Elodie Nix claimed the 6th place spot for the 10-13 girls 1-meter diving, with her sister Inez Nix taking 8th. Dakota Adamec came in 12th in the 14-17 girls, with Pat Kelly earning 15th place for the boys 14-17.
