We thank the Harvey communications department for the below submission:
The Harvey varsity softball team lost to a formidable King School squad, 24-2, Thursday in Katonah. During the first inning, Harvey’s defense struggled to get outs. Several errors by Harvey fielders and some good hitting from King put 14 runs on the board before the Cavaliers had their first turn at bat.
King’s first inning offensive explosion put Harvey in a hole that the Cavaliers were not able to climb out of. Minimizing their errors in the next innings, Harvey was able to get needed outs and showed abilities to make good plays under pressure.
Harvey’s highlights included 7th grader Hannah Paul pitching strongly for 3 out of her 5 innings after relieving starting pitcher Kelly Barker. On the defensive side, Harvey left fielder Desiree Eason made a nice play on a hard hit fly ball for the last out of the fifth inning.
Offensive highlights include Desiree Eason and Andersen Greenwood each getting an RBI to account for Harvey’s two runs. Greenwood also stroked a double.
With the loss, Harvey’s record is now 1-1.
