Latest Poll Shows Clinton, Trump Leading Challengers in NY Primary
New York remains in the Democratic column when Democratic candidates were matched with Republican candidates. The primary is April 19.
As the New York Democratic presidential primary gets closer, both former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders have turned their attentions to the Empire State.
Clinton, a Chappaqua resident, is making an appearance Thursday at SUNY Purchase while Sanders will be getting acquainted with voters in the Bronx.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday has Clinton besting Sanders in the April 19 Democratic primary 54 percent to 42 percent.

Real estate mogul and television personality Donald Trump has a substantial lead over his two competitors for the Republican primary, according to the poll.
Trump comes in with 60 percent, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 20 percent and Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 19 percent.

“The home-court advantage helps both party’s front-runners in the presidential primaries in New York,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Assistant Director Maurice Carroll.
Likely Democratic and Republican voters were polled.
When Quinnipiac pollsters matched up Republican and Democratic candidates, they found the state was decidedly in the blue column, with Clinton beating both Trump and Cruz and edging out Kasich.
Likewise, Sanders beat all three Republican candidates.
