HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It's not difficult to find situations where a BluePath service dog could have made all the difference in an autistic child's life — just pick up the newspaper. A new short film, premiering this week, explores how the service dogs go from rambunctious pups to dedicated and indispensable companions with the help of devoted volunteers.

The red carpet film premiere will celebrate one of the Hudson Valley's most unique and effective organizations, while raising awareness about the cause and helping to raise money so that BluePath can reach even more children. Circle October 4 on your calendar, because everyone can use a friend, but some of us could benefit from constant companionship and a helping paw every once in awhile.

The "Hope In A Blue Vest" world premiere will take place at the historic Bedford Playhouse on Wednesday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. A panel discussion will follow the screening with a wine reception, hosted by Bedford's Siemers Wine & Spirits, afterwards.

"Hope In A Blue Vest" follows one BluePath service dog’s journey to fulfill a calling. The film introduces us to the volunteers and new friends who make enduring connections along the way. The short documentary film about BluePath, the nonprofit providing life-changing service dogs to children with autism and their families, is described as exploring "love, hope, opportunity."
