Memorial Day 2016 in Westchester County

Ceremonies, parades and services are scheduled throughout the holiday weekend all around the county.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Because of the inclement weather some Memorial Day events Monday, May 30, may be cancelled or changed.

Westchester County residents are marking Memorial Day 2016 with a variety of events, activities and ceremonies.

Wednesday, May 25: The VA Hudson Valley Health Care System in Castle Point will have its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. 41 Castle Point Rd., in Wappingers Falls.

Thursday, May 26:

Cortlandt has a dedication ceremony at noon of a plaque in Veterans Park.

American Legion Post No. 347 hosts the annual Memorial Day Parade at 6 p.m. in Larchmont.

VA Hudson Valley Health Care System in Montrose holds its Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m., Franklin D. Roosevelt Montrose campus sculpture garden, 2094 Albany Post Rd. For more info, click here.

Friday, May 27:

The 10th annual pre-Memorial Day service in Valhalla will be held at 2:30 p.m. Medal of Honor recipients buried in Westchester County will be honored at the Kensico Cemetery at the Veterans Memorial monument. For more info, go here.

Saturday, May 28: Friends of the African American Cemetery Inc. holds a Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. at 215 North St. in Rye. For more information, go here.

Sunday, May 29:

Memorial Day service and flag replacement on graves at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 9 a.m. in New Rochelle. Click here for more information.

Service members will participate in the annual parade hosted by James Daley VFW Post No. 200 at 1 p.m. at 558 Warburton Ave., in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Monday, May 30:

Ardsley's parade has been moved indoors at the Firehouse at 10 a.m.

Bedford Hills Memorial Day parade will kick off at 9 a.m. Lineup is at Babbit Road at 8:45 a.m. Any active military member or veteran is welcome to march behind color guard. For more information, go here.

Bronxville’s 96th annual Memorial Day celebration will begin at 9 a.m. with the opening ceremony at the flagpole in Leonard Morange Park. For more information, go here.

Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. at City Hall Veterans Memorial, 40 South Broadway in Yonkers. For more, go here.

The Eastchester/Tuckahoe Memorial Day Ceremonial Parade assembles at 9:15 a.m. at the Eastchester Monument Park, California and White Plains Roads in Eastchester. More information here.

Elmsford's Memorial Day Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at Legion Park on Main Street and continues West on Main Street to South Stone Avenue, ending at Village Hall where a service will be held.

Harrison’s Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Halstead Avenue and and corner of Thatcher Avenue. Click here for more details.

New Castle’s Memorial Day starts with a ceremony, followed by a parade. For more info, click here.

In New Rochelle, there will be a service and wreath laying at 10 a.m. at Memorial Monument Plaza, Memorial Highway and Main Street, followed by activities at Glen Island Park. For information, go here and here for the barbecue.

Ossining's Memorial Day parade has been cancelled.

Peekskill's annual Memorial Day Service begins at 10 a.m. at Monument Park.

Pelham’s annual Memorial Day parade starts at 10 a.m. in Pelham Manor.

Pleasantville's event begins at 10AM with placement of wreaths at the World War 1 Monument at the corner of Bedford Road and Academy Street. The parade proceeds down Bedford Road to Memorial Plaza, where a ceremony is held at the site of the War Monuments at the north end of the Plaza.

In Rye, the Memorial Day parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at Rye Train Station.

Scarsdale's Village Parade begins at 9:45 a.m. with a march, followed by speeches.

Sleepy Hollow's parade has been cancelled.

The Mohegan Fire Department Memorial Day service will start at 10 a.m. at Shrub Oak Memorial.

Tarrytown’s Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 9 a.m. on Main Street.

In Valhalla, the Memorial Day Parade starts on Westlake Drive at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the Village Green.

Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Town of Yorktown will hold a Memorial Day service and parade in Yorktown Heights. Go here for details.

The White Plains Memorial Day Parade has been cancelled. There will be a ceremony in the Common Council Chambers in City Hall at 10 a.m.
