Metro-North Harlem and New Haven Lines Delayed by Disabled Train

A train hit a discarded bicycle on the tracks near Fordham.

Metro-North rail service on the Harlem and New Haven Lines was delayed by at least 15 minutes Monday afternoon after a train hit a discarded bicycle on the tracks near Fordham, according to officials.

No injuries were reported, but the accident disabled a train, and forced the temporary suspension of service to several Harlem Line stops: Williams Bridge, Botanical Garden, Tremont and Melrose.

The bike was thrown on the tracks from the 188th Street overpass, reports The Journal News, and the train’s engineer tried to stop but was unable to before striking it.
