New Principal Chosen For Katonah-Lewisboro District
The board OK'd a four-year probationary appointment.

CROSS RIVER, NY — A new principal of John Jay Middle School will be starting July 1. The Katonah-Lewisboro school district board of education voted to approved the appointment of Jeffrey Swiatowicz to the position at its April 12 meeting. Superintendent Andrew Selesnick said Swiatowicz is currently the assistant principal at East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield, CT. He has been in that role for eight years.
The board OK’d a four-year probationary appointment as principal at an annual salary of $174,658.
Prior to his current position, he was the assistant principal at Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield, CT, and previously was a district math coordinator and a teacher of math at both the elementary and middle school level within the Ridgefield Schools. Swiatowicz earned his bachelor of science in elementary mathematics from York College of Pennsylvania, his master’s degree in reading and literacy from Western Connecticut State University and his administrative certification through the University of Connecticut.

Selesnick said Swiatowicz came through a rigorous search process and was well received by students, parents and colleagues.
“He impressed us as someone with a deep commitment to supporting and nurturing the middle-school age student, an understnading of the importance of collaboration in all aspects of the educational process and a thoughtful approach to building a positive educational environment for all,” he said.
