NY State Suspends Road Work During Memorial Day Weekend
The governor said the lack of construction will minimize delays and disruptions on the highways.

In an effort to accommodate travelers over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, New York State is suspending road and bridge construction projects.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that construction work will stop at 6 a.m. Friday, May 27 and won’t start back up until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 31.
Some work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs.

“Memorial Day weekend is one of the busiest travel times of the year and we are taking every step we can to minimize delays and disruptions on New York’s roadways,” Cuomo said.
“These actions put drivers first and will help New Yorkers get where they need to go in less time and with less aggravation this holiday weekend,” he said.

Officials said there will be slight variations for certain Thruway projects based on previous traffic volume. A detailed list of Thruway lane closures can be found here.
