Harvey Girls Get First Win in Lacrosse

Harvey’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team played host to the Forman School on Wednesday, 4/18 and secured its first victory of the season with a 10-5 win. Senior captain Nikki Pugliese of the Cavaliers was first to score, but Forman responded quickly with a pair of goals. As the half wound down, it looked like Forman would hold the lead, but Pugliese scored twice more before the half, giving Harvey the lead 4-3.

Both teams came out of the half poised to take control, but Harvey managed to put more balls in the net. Sophomore Audrey Rowe scored first, assisted by sophomore Natasha Stein. Junior Abby Hassett scored a pair of goals, and Captain Leila Zuaiter scored once and added an assist. With the stronger offense, a hat trick from Rowe and another goal from Pugliese.
Harvey’s Tennis Team Perfect So far
The Harvey School varsity tennis team is off to a great start this season, four for four in matches, with the latest victory coming Wednesday, 4/18 against The Wooster School in Danbury, CT. The Cavaliers defeated the Wooster team by winning all singles matches and second doubles.
Harvey's powerful first and second doubles players, Brent Feldman, and David Shabshis, delivered undefeated matches.

Harvey defeats Oakwood Friends in Tennis
The Harvey School varsity tennis team defeated Oakwood Friends School, 7-2 in Poughkeepsie on a cold overcast Monday afternoon, April 23. Harvey again won all singles matches and one of the doubles. Harvey still has an undefeated singles record in all of its matches. David Shabshis and Brad Rothschild played well for Harvey while the best performances for Oakwood Friends belonged to Vincent Cheng and Oliver Su.

Harvey Softball Loses to Sacred Heart
Harvey’s softball team suffered a 15-6 loss to a formidable Convent of the Sacred Heart team on Wednesday, April 18th. The Cavaliers, off to a 1-4 start this season, produced their best softball of the season so far in this non-league game. Although Heart took an early four-run lead in the first inning, Harvey played strong and tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the 2nd.
A lapse in fielding by the Cavaliers resulted in Heart scoring seven runs in the top of the 3rd to pull away. Senior Kelly Barker pitched 7 innings for Harvey, earning a 72.3% strike percentage, while allowing only two walks. Senior Kim Bernstein had a perfect day at the plate for Harvey, going four for four.
Harvey Baseball loses to Greens Farms Academy
It was a duel between two pitchers for four innings until Greens Farms Academy broke through against Harvey starter Jesse Zubren in the fifth inning and went on to defeat the Cavaliers Saturday by the score of 6-1.
For 4 innings Jesse Zubren had kept Green Farms scoreless as Harvey held a 1-0 lead. Green Farms exploded for five runs in the 5th on five hits, two Harvey errors, and a botched bunt play. Zubren, who took the loss, allowed four earned runs on six hits in four and two-thirds innings. He struck out seven and walked four.
Foxes Victorious
Fox Lane defeated host Harrison 3-2 on April 24 according to Rob Cristino's post on the LoHud Softball Blog.
Fox Lane's Allison Lombardi drove in a run and struck out three in garnering the victory.
Boys Lacrosse
Fox Lane defeated Harrison 10-8 on April 24 according to Mike Dougherty's post on the LoHud Boys Lacrosse Blog.
