Road Construction Season Opens With Parkway Lane Closures This Week
Braking News: Construction zones and road paving on two busy Westchester highways could make getting around a test of patience this week.
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — It could be slow-going on two major Westchester County arteries starting Sunday evening.
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) said two lanes are expected to close along I-684 northbound between the Hutchinson River Parkway in Harrison and Exit 4 (State Route 172) in Bedford for road paving. The closures will start Sunday, April 24 and continue through Thursday, May 5. The work will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily, weather permitting.
The NYSDOT is also warning drivers that one lane northbound and southbound of the Hutchinson River Parkway is expected to close between Exit 4 (US Route 1) in the Village of Pelham Manor and Exit 7 (Pelhamdale Ave.) in Mount Vernon for construction. The closures will start Monday and continue through Friday. The roadwork will take place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily, weather permitting, according to the agency.

The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in a driver's license suspension.
