'The Science of Yoga' Discussion at Katonah Village Library
The March 6 event is presented by Katonah Village Improvement Society's Katonah Inspired lecture series.

Written by Maura Fadden Rosenthal
As yoga classes and workshops continue to expand throughout the area this evening program will review the science behind the yoga boom. Research studies that demonstrate yoga’s benefits in both health prevention and disease management will be presented: specifically studies for hypertension, diabetes management, auto immune disorders, post traumatic stress and mental illness. Presented by yogi Deirdre Breen, chairperson of Katonah Inspired and KVIS board member, the evening agenda will also include tips on finding the appropriate yoga style and teacher for specific health concerns, and an introduction to local studios and teachers.
Katonah Inspired mind-body education series includes weekly yoga classes on Wednesdays from 6 -7 pm at the Library thru May. Remaining programs also include a Juicing for Health demonstration on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the library, and the first annual Summer Solstice Yoga Celebration, to be held at the John Jay Homestead on Saturday, June 20th.
