Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said an arctic front will move through the Hudson Valley around midnight Saturday.

“As it does… temperatures will drop through the 30s, and a burst of snow is possible,” he said. “The snow could fall heavily for a brief period, and combine with gust winds, to create near white out conditions in some places.”

Potter said the fact that temperatures will remain at near or slightly above freezing that means the amount of accumulations is uncertain.

So here is the forecast from the National Weather Service:

After rain showers move out of the area Saturday afternoon, everyone should see temperatures in the mid- to upper-50s. Winds will start out light, but then increase.

Saturday night there is a chance of rain showers that will then turn to snow. Snow accumulation will be less than half an inch to an inch, depending on how far north you are.

The winds are going to really pick up with gusts sometimes exceeding 40 mph. That means the low temperatures in the mid-30s will feel much colder. Wind chills will be in the 25- to 30-degree range.

Sunday there is the chance of snow before 8 a.m. After that, the skies will be cloudy, turning to mostly sunny.

Temperatures during the day will possibly reach 40, but with winds ranging from 35-40 mph, and gusts up to 55 mph, it will feel not much above 25 to 30 degrees.

Sunday night there is an additional chance of snow before 2 a.m. Temperatures will dip to around freezing, but again winds up to the mid-teens will provide wind chills in the 20s.

When you start your workweek Monday, snow and rain are possible before noon, turning to all rain afterward.

The high Monday will be around 44 for the Mid-Hudson Valley and the mid- to upper-40s for the lower Hudson Valley.
