South Salem Man Arrested on DUI Charge in Greenwich

Police say the incident occurred on West Putnam Avenue.

A motorist whose vehicle Greenwich Police say was observed by officers mounting the curb and then speeding up is facing charges including driving while intoxicated.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the 25-year-old driver had red, glassy eyes, an odor of alcohol on his breath and failed field sobriety tests after he was stopped on West Putnam Avenue near Old Post Road #2 about 1:50 a.m. Oct. 15.

Joseph T. Davanzo, who gave an address of 55 Hoyt St., South Salem, NY, was charged with driving under the influence, traveling unreasonably fast and unsafe movement. He was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 29 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
