The Westchester Titans all came home with smiles and a little shiny hardware this weekend after their AAU girls basketball teams swept their respective age divisions at the Hooperstown Classic.
The 7th grade team completed a perfect weekend - defeating teams from Scarsdale, the Bronx and Mount Vernon. The 9th grade team followed suit - finishing the tournament with a 4-0 record - their second championship of the season.

The Westchester Titans are a local girls AAU basketball club out of Chappaqua comprising of athletes from the Chappaqua, Fox Lane and Harrison schools as well as St. Luke's. The teams are coached by Ayo Hart, former Head Coach of Fox Lane Girls Basketball who is now assistant coach of the Mount Vernon Girls Basketball program.
"I enjoy the AAU season tremendously because these young ladies get to share the court with athletes from other school districts whom they normally would not have the opportunity to get to know," Hart said. "The championships and trophies are definitely nice, but the friendships that are formed on these teams will last beyond the memories of these games."
"The kids work incredibly hard to get to where we are. Nearly all of them compete on an in-season school sport or travel soccer so they are also learning at a young age the invaluable skills of organizing their time wisely and staying on top of their academics."
Foxes Victorious
Fox Lane's Christie Lombardi went 3 for 4 with a three run home run and teammate Isabella Rago went 3 for 4 with four RBI in a 16-1 triumph against visiting Rye on May 7 in a game that was ended in six innings by the mercy rule according to Rob Cristino's post on the LoHud Softball Blog.

Before the game, the Harvey seniors were recognized for their contributions to Harvey lacrosse. The seniors had a great game, scoring 10 of the 16 goals in a scorefest.
Hickey put Harvey ahead in the seventh minute with his first of two before senior Brett Marks made it 2-0 two minutes later. Junior John Bolanos scored next, before Bowman and Hickey made it 5-0 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, seniors Tim Ehlberg, Bowman with his second, third, and fourth, Collin Krause, and Richard Schulman , along with juniors Armando Vazquez and Julien Higgs, and freshman Connor Wilson scored to make it 14-0 at the half.
