Harvey’s lacrosse team got back on the winning track Wednesday (April 25) with a 16-0 victory over Chase Collegiate, improving their season record to 7-1.

Mitch Bowman had a big game for Harvey. He opened the scoring with his first of five for the day, and John Bolanos, Brandon Hickey, and Richard Schulman added singles in the first quarter for a 4-0 Harvey lead. Neither team scored in the second quarter as Harvey led 4-0 at the half.

In the third quarter, Bowman and Hickey each scored their second goals, and Collin Krause also scored to make the score 7-0.

The flood-gates opened for Harvey in the last quarter, when the Cavaliers scored nine more: Bowman had three, Hickey had two more for a total of four, and Collin Krause, John Bolanos, Connor Wilson, and Brett Marks added singles. Wilson and Schulman each had three assists and a goal.

The game was characterized by chippy play, especially during the second half.  Chase had the edge in penalties with thirteen, while Harvey had twelve. James Underwood was credited with three saves in the Harvey net, while Matt Szyzgiel made six for Chase.

Baseball

Fox Lane

Fox Lane's Mike DiBiase went 2 for 4 with a home run and five RBI in the Foxes' 12-5 win against visiting Rye April 25 as per Vincent Mercogliano post on the LoHud Baseball Blog.

John Jay

Mercogliano also reported that on the same day John Jay lost to visiting Yorktown 11-9. John Jay's Mike Jones went 3 for 4 with two RBI.

Harvey

We thank the Harvey communications department for the below submission:

Harvey’s varsity baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision to Forman Wednesday (April 25). Things started off well for Harvey in their first at-bat when the Cavaliers took the early lead Mike Morra singled, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Corey Eisenband, and scored on a passed ball.

It was a short-lived lead for Harvey as Forman battled back in the bottom of the first and scored four runs. Harvey pushed another run across the plate in the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly by Jason Ecker scoring Will Schubert.

Those two runs would be it for the Cavaliers as their bats went quiet the rest of the way. Two more Forman runs came home in the second inning as the visitors stroked a couple of hits and capitalized on some sloppy defense by Harvey.
