HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Visitors to the Hudson Valley poured $4.4 billion into the region in 2018, according to a recent announcement by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Hudson Valley Tourism said that makes the Hudson Valley the third highest revenue-generating tourism region in the state, behind New York City and Long Island.

Spending on food and beverage and lodging were the largest components, making up 46 percent of the total spending.

As a result, the average regional household receives $738 in tax relief thanks to the revenue generated by tourism, the group said.

The announcement of the economic figures corresponds with the release Thursday of Hudson Valley Tourism's latest publication, the Hudson River Valley Regional Travel Guide.

The 23-page guide covers events, historic sites, artistic venues, farms, hiking trails, shopping destinations, theme parks and attractions.

It will be distributed at tourist information centers throughout the 10 counties, state Thruway Information Centers and trade shows.
