Volunteers needed at Carolin's Grove Preserve on Sept. 20
Help to protect a recovering forest in Pound Ridge, Sept 20 10am-1pm

To mitigate damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, Volunteer New York has joined with the Pound Ridge Land Conservancy to sponsor the installation of fencing around patches of regenerating forest. Our goal is to protect tender young trees from deer browse and to promote the establishment of native species as the forest repairs itself. This preserve is used by students of a nearby elementary school and is enjoyed by hikers and dogwalkers of all ages.
We will meet at the entrance to the Preserve on Stone Hill Road, (Route 137), and will work in that vicinity the entire time (10am-1pm). For more information, contact the PRLC Land Steward/Educator, Krista Munger, at 914-205-3533 or landstewardeducator@prlc.net. Please bring work gloves, a water bottle and snack. Also, RSVP and let me know if you can bring one of the following tools: a shovel, lopper, hammer, or handsaw. Your help is appreciated!
