Weekend Weather: Beginning to Feel Like Winter

There’s a word being introduced into our forecast that we haven’t used yet this month and that’s “Wind Chill Factor.”

After half a month of 50-degree and even an occasional 60-degree day in Westchester, we’re expecting temperatures in the upper 30s to around 40 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. Yes, it will reach 50 today in many parts of the county, but temperatures begin to fall by late afternoon.

Saturday will be breezy with wind gusts reaching 30 mph, and that means temperatures will feel significantly colder than the projected 40s throughout the county.

It will be very cold Saturday night, and the cold weather continues into Sunday, but then we’re back to what we’ve been accustomed to — 50s and 60s during Christmas week.

On Monday, it will be party sunny but from Tuesday through Friday it could be rainy and on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we could see temps in the 60s too.

Here is a detailed forecast via the National Weather Service:

Today: Mostly cloudy this morning...then becoming partly sunny. Highs around 50. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph this afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly clear in the evening...then becoming partly cloudy. Breezy and cooler with lows in the lower 30s. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs around 40. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 20s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Sunday: Sunny. Highs in the lower 40s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear in the evening...then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s.

Monday: Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 50s.

Tuesday through Friday: chance of showers each day with temperatures in the 50s to near 60 degrees.
