Westchester Land Trust's Horse Celebration A Success!
Birdstone Farm in Cross River showcased working horses including a Dressage presentation to benefit the Westchester Land Trust.

More than 150 people were on hand for the Westchester Land Trust’s (WLT) fun and fabulous celebration for the entire family entitled “The Year of the Horse.” The event was held on Sunday, September 21st at Birdstone Farm in Cross River.
Guests enjoyed an exhibition of working horses including: horse jumping, barrel racing, horse vaulting, and a dressage presentation. Guests also had a chance to tour the barn and visit with all the animals at this bustling horse farm which doubles as a safe haven for injured and rehabilitating animals. For the kids, there was face painting and the ever-popular chocolate fountain, while the adults enjoyed food catered by Bonni Manning Catering.
Prior to the horse exhibition, WLT president, Lori Ensinger, welcomed the guests and talked about the important work of the organization. “The Westchester Land Trust has permanently preserved more than 8,000 acres in the area, which in turn serves to protect the air and water quality for more than 9.5 million people in the New York metropolitan area.” Lori also acknowledged Lee Manning-Vogelstein, the owner of Birdstone Farm, for graciously hosting the event.

Proceeds from the event benefited the Westchester Land Trust and its important work protecting land in Westchester and Eastern Putnam counties. WLT’s conservation efforts impact the long term health of these communities through the protection of water resources, air quality, food supply, and wildlife habitats, as well as preserving land available for passive recreation and scenic vistas and viewsheds. In total, WLT has protected more than 8,000 acres of open space, including 660 acres of preserves owned by our organization.
