Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Westchester County

Snow Monday could be up to 3 inches in Westchester, but the NWS isn't making an accumulation prediction for Putnam and Rockland counties.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Westchester County by the National Weather Service.

The advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

The forecast is now calling for snow starting sometime between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and continuing to about 3 p.m.

New snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible, the weather service said.

Here is what Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather said earlier today.

Putnam and Rockland counties have not been hit with the same kind of forecast. For them, the National Weather Service says:

LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC STATES AND BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR MORE SNOW MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY. LINGERING LIGHT SNOW IS POSSIBLE TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION FORECAST SPREAD REMAINS MODERATE TO HIGH THROUGH THIS PERIOD...SO CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST NWS FORECASTS.

More snow is likely after 3 a.m. Tuesday, with additional accumulations of 1 to 2 inches possible.

At this point, forecasters are saying Westchester can count on periods of snow every day through Thursday.

But as we know, forecasts can change quickly.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that snow or other forms of frozen precipitation will cause travel difficulties, so caution should be used while driving.
