Women Inmates and Babies Live in Prison Nursery in Bedford Hills
The correctional facility is one of the few in the country with such a program.

One of the few prisons in the United States that allows female inmates and their babies to stay together is Bedford Hills Correctional Facility.
The Journal News has an article by Colleen Long of the Associated Press that profiled one inmate who is able to nurture her six-month-old daughter within the confines of the prison nursery.
New mothers are carefully screened in order to be able to spend as long as 18 months in the nursery, though the women can be dropped from the program if they don’t adhere to the rules.
